For and by young people
The Building New Futures (BNF) programme is the core programme for the RCE Rhine-Meuse to establish a long lasting and structural collaboration with RCE's in other regions. Initially the programme will have a focus on collaboration with African RCE's. But in general the programme is aiming at connecting youngsters to the ESD theme. This means that activities of the RCE Rhine-Meuse in Europe can also be part of the BNF programme, as long as the aim is to organise international collaboration between representatives of the next generation.
Exchange
Central theme in the BNF programme is the international collaboration between youngsters, where the young people are involved in working together towards a more sustainable future. Exchange is the core mechanism that is used in this programme. To create a better understaning of the basis and impact of different cultures on the lives of young people it is essential that youngsters from different cultural bachgrounds meet and exchange experiences. A common base created during an exchange experience can result in better understanding, the development of friendship and collaboration.
Target countries
Based on past experience and trust in existing partnerships form the basis for the BNF programme. This means that the focus is on two target countries at the moment. These countries are Kenya and Ghana. This does not mean that future collaboration in other African countries is not possible. Expansion will be judged according to the circumstances.
Partners in Kenya
In Kenya the RCE Greater Nairobi is the key partner. As an RCE is a network organisation this means that organisations that are involved in the RCE Greater Nairobi are partners in the BNF programme too. Especially Tangaza College, three NGO's PEMA, ZUMA and SOMIRENEC are active partners.
Partners in Ghana
In Ghana the PEP-C network, active in the North-West region of Ghana is the prime partner for the project.
Partners in the Netherlands
In the Netherlands next to the RCE Rhine-Meuse the following partners are actively involved:
- SWV Construction training
- COS Centre for collaboration and development
- Worldwide Foundation
